Wired network settings and configurations for Windows 10/11
Following instructions are for setting up wired connections on a Windows 10/11 computer.
- Open the Services dialog box by clicking the Start button, then type services.msc in the Search box and press Enter.
If prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, enter or confirm the password.
- Enable the Wired AutoConfig service (not WLAN AutoConfig). Double-click the Wired AutoConfig item.
- Set Startup type: Automatic and then click the button: použiť - apply.
- Finally, click the Start button to start the Wired AutoConfig service.
(If the service is already running and set up as shown, you can skip this point.)
- Open network connections by clicking the Start button, look for the application: Control panel (Ovládací panel).
- Choose Network and Internet (Sieť a internet).
- Network and Sharing Center (Centrum sietí a zdieľani)
- Change adapter settings. (Zmeniť nastavenia adaptéra.)
- Double-click the network connection (sieťové pripojenie) you want to use to connect to the school network (most often Ethernet). Then right-click and select Properties (Vlastnosti).
- Enable 802.1x authentication by clicking the Overenie (Authentication) tab and checking the Enable IEEE 802.1X (Povoliť overenie IEEE 802.1X) authentication box.
- Make sure the authentication method is set to Microsoft: Protected EAP (PEAP) and check the option: Remember my authorization for this connection every time I sign in. (Pamätať si moje poverenia pre toto pripojenie pri každom mojom prihlásení.)
- Then go to Nastavenie - Settings for network authentications (1).
- Uncheck all the options on this page so that everything looks like in the picture. Then click OK.
- You will get back to the previous settings where you go to More settings...(2). Check the option: Specify authentication mode. Select the option: User authentication, then you can directly register your login data in the option: Save credentials (more info in the next point). Press the button: OK, OK and you can close the windows.
